The girl who never failed to be there

My friend once advised me, “Make your self less available.
That way, he would realize your worth. He knows you are always there that’s why
he doesn’t recognize your efforts.” I said no, I cannot do that. “Why not?”
Because he is always busy. It is the only time he could make for me, and I
should be grateful. I am only one of the many people he has to see regularly. If
I need him very badly, I have to wrestle for his time. Better yet, it has to be
an emergency. Who knows when I’d get to be with him again? And besides, how
would he recognize my efforts if I would not be around for him all the time? How
would he know I am waiting for hours just to see him if I am not there waiting?
“And do you think your efforts are worth it?” That’s the risk and challenge I am taking. If in the long run my deeds
do not pay off, it’s okay. At least, I showed him my best. If we ever bump into
each other in the future, it is enough that he remembers me as the girl who never
failed to be there for him.
